I might be thick(might be? LOL) but why does it need an oversized head gasket???

Stu

To compensate for the skimmed head.

Ie, if the head has been skimmed, and an original sized gasket is used, the compression ratio will be increased, plus clearance between valves and pistons may become too close?

So when chilled said an over sized head gasket, he is after a 'thicker' one (if I am right!) :)

Cheers,

Will

hi will m8

yes its a thicker gasket i need
the car as turbos fitted so i do need to worry about the compression ratio
has anyone fitted a copper or stainless spacer with a head gasket to restore clearance

Copper would be the best choice as it has much better thermal characteristics which could be useful on the turbo car.

You will need to use a thermal sealant to ensure a good bond onto the head or block to stop blow by.

You can easilly make a copper gasket or have one made.

You may find these useful:
