Hi

The engine management light came on recently and have had a diagnostic check done..the error p009564 has come up as:

Intake air temperature sensor 2 (cylinder bank 1) has an electrical fault. There is an implausible signal

I have a 2015 a class mercedes a180 w176

I have cleaned the sensor, removed the battery for 20 mins and connected everything up but the engine management light came up again!!

Any suggestions on the above??

Thank you

Connect an obd reader, clear codes and then check again to see if eml comes back on, the intake Air temp sensor needs replacing.

They are not expensive to replace, if the codes were not cleared then they are still there.

I got quoted 220 pounds from dealers..for the part and the senor as apparently they dont comenseparately, thats what the guy from mercedes part said..

The code cant be cleared atm using the obd reader as some codes cant be reset, thats what was said from an electrician/garage..

A quick check ( really need your engine code ) shows this look at number 170

the sensor is a seperate part, if you put up the vin nimber we can check it and then give you a definative answer by checking the right engine code for you and getting the right part number, it looks the same as the one i replaced on my cls the other day, two clips one other side to release from the manifold.

Just to add this is but one of the engine types, this is why we need the correct engine code, I am not saying that this is the correct engine type to yours however, with the information it is possible to check these things and give you better and correct information. This is just an example of an A180 engine and its parts.

Thanks for your replies...i managed to locate the part and gave it a good clean with holts electric cleaner and did this whilst i disconnected the battery

The fault i managed to clear using an obd reader and the fault is now longer showing, for now..

Will test for a few days hoping the cleaning did the job but will have to wait and see 🙏

Ok the issue remains as the eml came back up again...after a couple of days...the VIN number for my vehicle is WDD1760122V067013 @unclebuck

Also i didnt clean the connector part...

Do i need to clean this as well? Or is it only where the sensor inside the tube...

That looks like the TMAF (IAT1) not the charge air cooler temperature sensor(IAT2) unclebuck has shown

Hi everyone, I also have a similar A180d and face the exact same issue. @Rizzy123 have you managed to figure out which sensor needs replacing?
@unclebuck my VIN number is WDD1760122J515990 which seems to be the same car and specs as @Rizzy123, can you please point us out to the correct sensor?

Ok I had a look online and there are engine variants, the first ones had the common air intake sensor, similar to the one in my cls. then the later A180 had a different sensor setup diff engine type.

The only ones I can find info on for yours are these here 400 and 420. You really need to take it into a Merc specialist and let them run the star over it as it could be other things as well

The price I was given on just one of them was £102.60 + VAT

Sorry I cant help any more than this.

I went to a mercedes specialist in bham, they pin pointed that the MAP sensor is the issue so currently getting that fitted in today..

Will test it 2moro when i get the car back

Thanks for your help @unclebuck. I agree that the best course of action is taking it to a specialist. Out of curiosity where do you find the above photos with all the parts etc? Is there any specific website you use?

Thanks for the update @Rizzy123. I guess your MAF has the IAT integrated then. How much did it cost in the end, MAF plus labour?

Well apparently it was the MAP sensor (not MAF) that needed replacing...so will go on a drive to see if it was that after being replaced...the guy charged 140 including labour..so dunno if thats a decent price..part was 80..so rest was labour and diagnostics...

I used msl specialist in bham for parts and labour

Finally, after replacing the map sensor the engine management light has gone...its been almost a week and no sign of the engine management light coming back on!! 🙏

Hi @Rizzy123 thanks for having shared your experience. Could you please tell me what's the reference of your MAF sensor or provide a photo of the sensor please ?
I have the same issue but can't identify the part. Thanks !
