just looking at a car the same year/model/age/reg as mine and the paint code is

199

will all 199 be the same?

epically as its the same year/model/age/milage/version ect.

cheers

a very strong chance as when i went to get paint for mine the paint code had 3 version/codes but all the same colour

also the car was registerd in n.ireland in 1994 but came over here in 2001 so the V5 says date of first registration is 2001

so when i take the private plate off will i get a 2001 redg on it?

done a full HPi on it and thats all 100% and shows old and new plate

Don't know if this helps. My wifes car and mine were both first registered ( in 2000 ) in England before moving over here. We both got current reg. marks on when we taxed them here.

PAINT CODE, is it here ...

Should be a 3 digit number on the left side? of the metal label on
the radiator crossmember...

car not here as its gone to get KFC

You will also find it in the vehicle data sheet at the end of the service book--if you have one. There's often a copy of the data sheet under the rear parcel shelf accessible from the boot.
If the other car has the same colour code and is the same age the colour will be essentially the same. However colour does vary from paint batch to batch on the production line and any difference would depend ultimately on that. If you put both chassis nos into the VIN here Mercedes-Benz Club Russia | Âñ¸ î Mercedes-Benz / VIN you can find exactly when the cars left the production line.

199 is an extremely popular colour for late 80's early 90's cars, across pretty much every model and line.

Paint suppliers will have different colour codes than the MB 199, but any half decent painter will know it off the top of their head after working on so so many cars with this exact colour.

cheers guys

well im hopefully getting it delivered tomorrow and then ill put the AMG kit on it and the 18" alloys off of GFP 2 and then sell the private plate
