So decided to do manifolds job on my w221 diesel and it went the wrong path :-(
We found why flaps went bang - EGR cooler was leaking and EGR valve itself was stuck solid. As a result cooler was running hot and it melted plastic linkages which operate the flaps (they are properly out of line)
EGR itself expanded from the heat we couldn't even fitted it for try on new manifold-was too big for the insert hole
Apart of all parts ordered manifolds, gaskets, seals need a new EGR 350£ and EGR cooler 270£
That was not expected at all
Also turbo got a slight play :-(
......still love the car
