C250 2012
Hi all..

I have incurred a problem today where my panoramic roof on the C250 only closes to half way and not completely but with it closing half way if I were to push the button to close again the sun visor (mesh) underneath starts coming out and closes the full way.

It's as if the sensor for the roof panel says to itself it has closes and alerts the sun visor to start. How can I reset or re-align this? I have taken it to 3/4 garages and they are all bemused and Mercedes are booked and cannot hold my car in storage.

It is quite urgent as I am not sure how long the weather will hold out for!

Many thanks for any help you can send give me.

you have tried the obv of trying fully open again and checked the channel for any obstruction as its prob like the windows designed to stop if it encounters any resistance

Yes I have and Mercedes also cleaned it as well as the other mechanics. It's been cleaned and re-lubed. It's just seems a reset to factory would do, I have done this previously with the windows but in regards to the roof I don't know how to and it doesn't shut anyway for me to be able to do anything

so a mercedes garage doesnt know how to close it??
i would open it again and see if it will go with a bit of a pull as its moving

No they couldn't close it and said it need to be booked in where the roof needs to be stripped but between now and the book in date it will rain. The problem is that it stops half way as shown In the picture and doesn't move no further as it feels it's reached the finish line hence the sun visor/shade starts to come out. As usually the sun visor does not come out until the roof is completely closed shut.

I have tried a million combos off pushing and pressing buttons but nothing seems to be resetting it to factory fittings. Does anyone know where I can locate the motor to inspect?

well this has certainly put me off opening mine tbh think i will stick with aircon and windows
strange because the motor is obv working

take out the control unit and let it hang down and look inside seems a common problem and poss the motor is dropping slightly so not engaging the gears

Remove the lens on the overhead light by prying it off with a screwdriver.

Slide the locking tabs towards the windshield and pull down on the housing to remove the inside of the roof light assembly. Leave the wiring connected.

Insert the S shaped Allen wrench supplied with the vehicle into the left side motor hole.

Turn the crank clockwise to close the sunroof.

I do like the way MB seem to have all eventualities covered. My 1994 W124 owner's handbook describes what to do in exactly this situation with the sunroof.

Personally, I'd try phoning Mobilo as you can't secure the car. Hopefully, they'll either fix it for you or take it to a dealer where it will be kept inside and secure and provide a loan car.

I can't locate the manual crank and been told there isn't one for the W204 c class by Mercedes. Went Mercedes but unlike what I was told they are closed until tomorrow and can't store my car. Shame that such a great car has such bad service from its people. And their "specialists" are not really specialists at all.

I am sat trying different combinations of resetting the roof. As all it needs is to understand where the finish line is.

Thank you for everything guys. I really appreciate it all

Have you tried a battery disconnect,it may be worth a try. Disconnect and leave it for 30 mins then reconnect.

Is it worth disconnecting the battery for a short while and then re connecting it?

H Reset the panorama sliding sunroof and the roller sunblind if the panorama sliding sunroof or the roller sunblind does not move smoothly.

Turn the key to position 1 or 2 in the ignition lock.

Pull the

until the panorama sliding sunroof is fully closed more.

Make sure that the panorama sliding sunroof more and the roller sunblind more can be fully opened again.

If this is not the case, repeat the steps above again. ave you tried the Reset procedure, this is from my E Class

It moves smoothly. It's just the glass panel only goes half way. Can't get it fully shut to be able to reset. However sun visor comes out full way.

I have taken battery out and will leave out for 30 minutes instead of the previous 5 minutes and hopefully something happens.

No change. Still only reaches half way then when I click again instead of finishing off the sun visor comes out (but finishes right to the end)

GUYS! I pulled battery. Still didn't work. Then I done factory reset on the system and every factory reset I could find online. And I gave up but went out now and chanced it by pressing it and it clicked forward with a gentle pull I got it to move forward. Then I done a reset of it as stated above and it's working. Slight problem is that now the sun visor doesn't close the whole way but hey once I build enough energy next weekend I'll try another reset.

Thank you everyone. I hope this does not happen to any of you ever.
