Parking brake adjustment

I have fitted new rear disc's and pads i have adjusted the parking brake on the adjuster inside the disc so it only that its just not catching when disc's are fitted

Two questions in one

Is this the correct way?

And is the parking brake self adjusting

Well the way i was taught was with the hand brake off adjust thru the wheel and disc till you cant move the wheel.
Then back it off slightly so the wheel moves nice a freely job done

i use the same method as crash67 but i was told to back the cable off first and adjust the cabble back up after adjusting the shoes

But now need to replace other caliper
