My bro has an issue with is parking brake - basically no clicks/resistance when he tries to engage it... any thoughts on cause???

Check the cable connection under the dash, could have come off.

Hi,

This happened on mine a while back .... it was the thing by the rear axle where the cable splits in two so one cable can go to each side .... cable guide or crimp or something ...

Just needed tightening up ...

It's under a plate under the back seat in a W210 easy to get at.

thanks as always...will check it out tonight

checked the cable under the rear seat - it moved with the pedal so guess thats not the problem. still no clicks and the release handle near the lights has no resistance and just moves freely as does the foot pedal...

any further thoughts...how do i get to the cable under the dash?

The release cable has probably snapped or jammed.

The detent pawl will be in the released position so not ratcheting. Just check the pawl on the foot mechanism first, then the release mech.

The release mech has one screw from the underside which is accessed by pulling the handle out.
