Parking sensors on W169 - best options?

Hi all

First time Mercedes owner and first post so thought I would get on the forum!

I've just picked up a very tidy A class Avant-garde (W169?), 2007. The only thing it is lacking is rear parking sensors so I'm weighing up my options. Can I simply pick up a second hand loom with sensors,

drill where necessary and simply plug 'n play or does it require more than just that?

Alternatively should go for an after market option which is cheaper but perhaps more work?

I don't want anything fancy, I'm not bothered about visuals as the beeping is enough.

The Mercedes factory system has front and rear sensors, displays, control units, main wiring loom, rear bumper loom, and front bumper loom.
The eBay item is just a tiny part of the package and you'll have to add the rest to make that work which is ££££££

You're much better off with a set of aftermarket sensors installed. You can get flush mount ones (that will require the bumper to be removed, so more complex to install) or slightly proud ones - that if you know where to drill you may not have to remove the bumper.

They also need spraying to match your car. If you are anywhere near lightwater (M3 J3) go see Alfie.

Cheers

Great that's exactly the sort of headache I want to avoid! I'm not near the M3 but I am tempted to pay someone to do it for me, it depends how much it costs.

Thanks

Where are you?

This is what I do for a living so can sort it for you if your near me or I can recommend a local fitter.
