Parking soft top for winter

I have never owned a soft top and with the winter approaching I was thinking about putting on the hard top soon. Any advice about treating the fabric or plastic? When I got the SL (r129) the windows had to be replaced as they had cracked along the fold - would a length of soft rolled up carpet dropped in the fold help?
Or do I just need to choose a dry day and press the button!

Yep, just make sure it is 100% dry and fold away. Not much else you can do. It's worth taking the hard top off a couple of times and cycling the roof as they can become stuck with little use.

I put a length of foam pipe insulation in the fold of mine.
