Hi Guys,

I'm toying with the idea of Part ex'ing the Mrs's 2006 C200k coupe @ 27,891 miles for a 2006 CLK 320 CDI SPORT @ 86k.

They are offering me 7k for a previous 1 lady owner car with low miles which i think is a decent offer?

I was hoping for around 7.5k if im being honest. The only difference is the CLK has COMMAND and passenger memory seat if i compare it interior spec wise to the c200k.

So £7000 in part ex leaves me to pay an extra £3,500 on top for the CLK.

Is it really worth it?

Spec: Mercedes CLK 320 CDI Sport Auto £10,500

Iridium silver metallic, semi aniline red leather interior, command satellite navigation, phone prep with bluetooth module, 18" AMG alloys, AMG bodystyling, electric heated memory seats, multi contour seats, bi xenon headlights, Harmon Kardon sound system with 6 disc CD changer, electric folding door mirrors, dual zone climate control, cruise control, multi function steering wheel, 2 owners, full Mercedes Benz/specialist service history, 86,000 miles

Would have liked Parktronic as letting the Mrs loose in it scares the S%^t out of me. The c200k has it and has done the job well. Its become a vital driving aid for her i think.

Why do you want to change it? Will the mrs really appreciate the power?

Most Mrs's couldnt tell the difference between a W203 coupe and W209 and I definately know that most Mrs's arent bothered whats under the bonnet.

A clk is a step up and the V6 vastly more powerful and in CDi form more economical but I don't care what they say a 7g v6 CDi can be a money put as several established members can attest and at 87k miles will be more tired inside and underneath than a 27k miler.

LOL, should have seen that one comming. Fair point Jay, however I use it more than she does. Work recently has seen me covering 500miles a month and although the Kompressor is ok in terms of motorway MPG. The supercharger around town however is not that great. I wouldn't say it's frugal. A diesel will be far more beneficial for both journey's.

Is an 86k clk troublesome? My old man has a W211 with the same engine with 77k and runs sweet as a nut.

My liking towards these V6's has grown immensely. I love his 211 more so the engine in it.

People need to get over their fear of the 100k mark approaching, as long as its looked after you will see 200k+ with ease! :)

Im finding my W209 far more practical than my W202 even though it has 2x doors. The fold down seats and the lack of B pillar means you can get anything in it.

The same dealer has another CLK in black with cream leather. This has 44k on it. With one owner. This is marked up as 14k....

86K is nothing for a V6 cdi and we find cars that have been used regularly are generally more reliable than those sat around and doing the school run.

Agree with this, personally i dont have an issue with it as long as its ben looked after. The chap says it has MB history with independent input.

I find the same practicalities with My 124 coupe in regards to the rear windows! Shame about the folding seats though! :)

Looking at the pics leather condition looks very good. Ive seen a lot worse interiors on cars far less than 86k.

My main concern moving from a 4 door to a 2 door was practicality have a 3 yr old son.
Getting his child seat and him in was a big concern but due to the folding front seat its actually easier to get him in. And with the pillar less windows dropping both side windows makes getting his seat in a doddle. The boot is also no smaller than my old 7th gen accord.

Oh and my 270 cdi has just hit 120k and is as tight as a drum

I have to agree with KillerHERTZ, people have this idea cars at 100k are worn out. When I was an apprentice many many years ago in the 60s/70s we used to get Fords & Vauxhalls in for engine rebuilds at 60k, so in them days yes a car with 100k was a big mileage. But them days are gone, 100k now & they are just run in.
