Thought I'd start a new project which will be useful.

Part numbers are made up of four sections:-

AAA BBC CC DD

A refers to the chassis (202, 140 etc) B refers to the general area the part is used. for example 01 are engine related - so 016 is head related oil things (cam gaskets etc) 053 and 050 are both valve related (as in inlet valve)

So - if you know of a part number, can you post the second three digits, and what it refers to?

this is unashamedly stolen from http://www.mercedes-veterans.com/tech/group.htm

I'll host this as an excel file on my server.

you should have posted the cute diagram from the EPC with them listed on ;)

Excellent idea.

We could put it as a Sticky in the Favourite section when you have more info mate. ;)

in a similar vein to the hit and run - who else has a copy of the epc?

if you do - and fancy goign through a few models and looking at (e.g) front doors and listing the parts to part numbers, this little project could get off the ground...

heres what i have done to date:-

just an idea..

Guy,

How can other posters get a copy of EPC and do you need certain system requirements on your computer to make it run.

I see CD's being advertised on e-bay saying that they are the same software as used by the MB Parts department people, however, that you need certain PC skills and X amount of disk space etc etc....all of which scares me off  .....are these CD's the same as what you use?

Many thanks

the requirements are in reality two CD drives (or a CD emulation program such as Virtual CD)
Any modern pooter
A network card and cable / wifi network
A Hub / switch / router or a second pooter on the network
the ability to read a word document carefully and following instructions..

I can burn you off a copy if you wish - pm me / send me two CDs and an SAE...
