Good newsUpdate 29th
All parts for the my car arrived over weekend. Rear bumber from the Germany appeared next day. Car currently stripped down and bumbers are being prepped and painted. Should have car back Thursday afternoon latest.
All that ridiculous panicking for nothing
Good point. Thanks for letting us know the outcome; a lot of people don't.
BumperI have to ask, what is a bumber?
Do you have particularly fancy headlights? No further damage behind the bumbers nor the headlamp, so it's straight swap of parts really. They will let me know total bill of which 3rd party is paying but it's just over £12,380 nearly hitting £12,400. For two bumbers and headlights, plus labour.... That sounds extortionate lol. Glad I dint paying
I thought soBumper
Well it was the left headlamp needing to be changed. The guy at MB said the headlamp was £1800 alone. I don't have any specialist lights, they were the original ones on the car when it was made. As far as I'm aware this amount it's simply down to the parts and labour. The hire car, I thinking would be billed separatelyDo you have particularly fancy headlights?
That really is a remarkable amount. I can’t help but think that more than half of that is down to the involvement of the accident management company, ie their fees, the like for like car, and the heavily inflated rate at which they’ll be charging the insurer for providing it.
If that bill is right and only parts and labour then that’s shocking.Well it was the left headlamp needing to be changed. The guy at MB said the headlamp was £1800 alone. That’s about what I would have expected, scratching my head at how it could get to well over £12k plus hire car.'Fraid not Rob.
Mrs S's 'cheapo' SEAT has LED headlights...£1200 each for the genuine article
The amount the hire car will be doesn't come into effect technically. MB and Auxillis, plus the 3rd party insurance only take into cost cost of repairs before determining it write off. The car was bought 25th Sept and I paid £17,500. I had candid chat with MB last week and they indicated they would be prepared to pay to amount of £15,500 before write off is even consideredI am not sure of the value of the car,but surely a £12k bill for repairs pus hire car is write off territory?
