Part shortages?

Update 29th

All parts for the my car arrived over weekend. Rear bumber from the Germany appeared next day. Car currently stripped down and bumbers are being prepped and painted. Should have car back Thursday afternoon latest.

All that ridiculous panicking for nothing

Good news 👍🏻

No further damage behind the bumbers nor the headlamp, so it's straight swap of parts really. They will let me know total bill of which 3rd party is paying but it's just over £12,380 nearly hitting £12,400. For two bumbers and headlights, plus labour.... That sounds extortionate lol. Glad I dint paying

Do you have particularly fancy headlights?

That really is a remarkable amount. I can’t help but think that more than half of that is down to the involvement of the accident management company, ie their fees, the like for like car, and the heavily inflated rate at which they’ll be charging the insurer for providing it.

Well it was the left headlamp needing to be changed. The guy at MB said the headlamp was £1800 alone. I don't have any specialist lights, they were the original ones on the car when it was made. As far as I'm aware this amount it's simply down to the parts and labour. The hire car, I thinking would be billed separately

If that bill is right and only parts and labour then that’s shocking.

That said last wee someone quoted me £800 to replace 10 metres of guttering 😳

That is a shocking price for a new headlamp.
I know a new one for my previous W212 E63 which was one of the self dipping intelligent LED headlights was a mere £1100.

I dunno how they justify their costs really. Love to know the price of the bumpers.....

'Fraid not Rob.
Mrs S's 'cheapo' SEAT has LED headlights...£1200 each for the genuine article

That’s about what I would have expected, scratching my head at how it could get to well over £12k plus hire car.

The hire car (Audi A1) is probably close to £100 per day if we hired one from a well known name, so I be surprised if that’s £200-300 per day through the accident management company, so a couple of weeks in that could be £3-4000 on top 😳😬

I can ask for a full breakdown of the costs just to be curious, but would MB/Auxillis give this to me?

There is no further damage, so it's literally 2 bumpers and one left side headlight. Sounds like it potentially 2/3 days work, they started late yesterday afternoon. Would love to understand the cost aswell. If we get car back Thurs/Fri, then we'd would of had the car less then 2wks.

I am not sure of the value of the car,but surely a £12k bill for repairs pus hire car is write off territory?
The amount the hire car will be doesn't come into effect technically. MB and Auxillis, plus the 3rd party insurance only take into cost cost of repairs before determining it write off. The car was bought 25th Sept and I paid £17,500. I had candid chat with MB last week and they indicated they would be prepared to pay to amount of £15,500 before write off is even considered

Trade value £15.5k
Repair £12k

Something is not adding up IMO. I would expect this to be a shoo in for a Cat N write off.
Since when do insurance companies not include hire car costs?
