Just a quick note re the above - it seems more and more Merc dealers are linked up and so its now well worth a quick search (by part number) before buying.
An example today:
My mate's V6 CDI needs new glowplugs (which I will fit for him later today as the V6 CDI is very accessible and easy).
He was quoted £16.10 each (total £113.50 for 6 inc VAT) by Stratford-Upon-Avon Merc with a "no" re discount.
Same branch advertises on Partsreunited at £12.09 each (£85.16 for 6 inc VAT).
Quick second phone call and (£28.34) - 25% - off.....not a huge amount in this case but will allow him to pay for my beers (almost). Also makes it easier to decide to change the set!
Ignoring the parts desk morality this is a nice "British" no-haggle saving and reminds me of buying radiators from Plumbase (you have to KNOW what discount is feasible before you know what to ask for....)
