Hey everyone,

I recently bought a 2003 E320 CDI saloon, because I just fell in love with it at first sight. The car did have an issue with the front passenger door lock though, for which I got some money off.

Basically, the lock "bounces" or "flutters" up and down on locking or unlocking the car, and most of the time needs a few tries to either lock or unlock properly. I'm wondering if there is an actuator or something which may need to be replaced inside the door, or whether it could be something else.

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Hi very common problem on mercs.

It will need a new door lock to sort it out

Not necessarily, sometimes the foam inner lining rubs against the pin and causes friction

In all the years i have worked on mercs i have never once seen this fault it has always been the lock that is the problem

Thank you guys, at least I know what the problem is likely to be, and can start looking for a replacement. Are locks easy to replace?
