Paving slabs (thrilling thread)

Ahem...the combination of my ML and the skip lorry taking a load of rubble away have taken their toll on two paving slabs outside my house. Someone is doing my driveway for me and has said he'll fix it too if I provide him with the slabs....where can I get them from? Are they pretty standard slabs?

Not exactly. Old imperial ones were either 2'x2' or 3'x2', newer ones are generally 600mm square.
For a drive you want thicker ones.
A builders merchants or reclaimed yard might be best.

Why not ask the chap doing the laying, he will know what and where from.

Colour and size would help. Depending upon how old they are getting a perfect match may be tricky. I've just had the patio relaid in our new house so have a few spare slabs 45 x 45 cm & 60 x 60 cm in a Buff Colour if it helps.

Thanks for the offer..these are standard light grey council slabs 750x590x50mm. I know the council will charge me to do the work when they discover the damaged slabs - they did to a neighbour a few doors down. It's a tad dark, so won't get a shot...will delve into the archive and see if my street slabs are sneaking into shot.

They sound like imperial 2'6" x 2' flags. A reclaim yard or freeads/freecycle would be best.
