Hi

My wife an d I got our new car on Friday (Audi A4 3.0 Sport Carbriolet), we have decided to keep the S-class aswell. As we dont drice that much I am looking at an economical way to kepp both cars on the road.

I am thinking about pay as drive insurrance, has anyone used this and if so does it work out cheaper than regular insurance.

We will probably only use the s-class for about 100 miles a month.

Depends when and where you use it. Miles overnight are very, very expensive because of the increased risk. Other than that, it could be a winner- I suspect with that low mileage you will struggle to even find a limited mileage policy for much cheaper.

I think that the PAYG option may well be too expensive, as they hit you with a large fee in the begining to set up the system.

The option is day insurance when i need it, but that means the car would be uninsured the rest of the time.

I also looked at third party insurance but that is more than fully comp insurance.

There are several companies that specialise in low mileage insurance and it can work out significantly cheaper. But be aware if you do make a claim they may well want to see service records or MOT's to make sure the mileage done is genuinely low. If it's not then expect any claim to be rejected.

Or just get a set of Eastern European number plates.............

RHD and east european plates. Kent police might be concerned.
Would not stop it getting nicked though.
Just go for guaranteed low mileage. Much cheaper
