MB has a 0% interest free deal at the moment, with deposit contribution of £3650.

Best deal I have been offered so far:
SL500 list price with options: £83,000
deposit: £6000
36x: £950
Total payable: £40,200

BMW Select, figures from New Cars | Award Winning Luxury Cars 2013 | BMW
435i Luxury list price with options: £45,600
deposit: £6000
35x: £816
Credit arrangement and completion fees: £310
Total payable: £34,870

Both cars are on a 10k miles pa, 3 year basis.

The BMW figure can no doubt be improved at a BMW dealer, but this shows what "good value" R231 SLs can be ..

Or maybe the 435i is far too expensive!

Mercedes has simply best deals on the market.
Try compering any merc to its respective beemer classmate, and mercedes will always come on top.

Does it mean its a better car?
Not really, but you will be certainly better off financially if you stick with mercedes.

But someone on the BMW forum has contract hired a 435i for £3140 deposit and £495 a month with auto 'box, leather, pro media and adaptive xenons doing 18k a year.

Which is £20400 over the same period.

You have to be a loon to buy a new car rather than rent, especially when you get to this level.

I agree, best time to buy a car on this level is 2-4 Years old, it's still modern but the worst depreciation is over with.

this makes much more sense

Just add vat.

99% of them will do it personally as well.

Oh, and that was including vat by the way.

SL500
£3,432.24 deposit
10k miles pa (usually about 5% increase per 2k added)
24x £572

Those are plus vat.

Mercedes-Benz Sl Class contract hire | £572.04 per month | Gold Auto Contracts Limited | ID: 17317750

this same company quotes for personal lease, £1099 x 38 which is about £42,000 for a base car.

Still more than MB deal.

Sometimes you can get a cracking deal on pcp, I was looking at leasing but the car I wanted was £309 a month plus options and deposit. I got a pcp deal for £418, bit more deposit but all of the options I wanted (£6.5k options) With the Merc deposit contribution and discount I managed to get over 21% off list price, so there are plenty of deals around!!

I would think you would get a large chunk off an sl plus the deposit contribution!!!
