Hi all,

Does anyone know anywhere that does real performance mods for our diesels? I'm talking injectors, turbos, intercoolers, that kind of thing? Remapping is fine but its really not enough anymore.

I've got a CLK270 CDI, I know the obvious thing is to swap it for a 320 but I can't stretch to a new car, plus I've got this one already and it's not worth a huge amount.

I've found 1 company but I haven't got the time to drive to Holland to have work done.

Ta muchly!

is the company you are talking about KC Performance?

big power is made usually with an exhaust intercooler upgraded injectors larger turbo 4bar map sensor and then someone who really knows how to tune the engines.

That's them and that's the kind of person I'm after?

Hi
For more power you can use the 320cdi turbo
Your turbo will be gt2256v and the 320 is gt2359v
You can fit the gt2566v
Injectors you can use the mercedes c30 amg ones, or have there nozzles fitted to your injector,
Use the fuel pump from e or ml 400cdi and rail pressure sensor from same vehicle, and a 4 bar map sensor,

Have a chat with Luke at dieselpumpuk. The Last car they did put out 497bhp and 573ft/lbs.

At the wheels.

Hi,
I have Merc G 270cdi with turbo garrett GT2359 from 320cdi, stock injectors and stock CR pump. O course remapped ecu. Car has cca 165kW.

If my sums are correct, 165kW is 221BHP, exactly what the 320CDI gives.

Does that mean all you need to convert a 270CDI to 320CDI s the GT2359 turbo?

I wonder how the 2 would compare with the same power output but the 5G vs 7G?

My parents have a E280 CDI with the 7G, despite being a heavier car and having an extra person it'll still comfortably pull away from me

That's because the 280 is a 3litre V6 whereas your 270 is a true 270 5cyl.

Don't wish for the 7g box. Not as good as the 5 imho.

Mines been remapped so on paper it should have the upper hand, although I realise the engines have different characteristics and power delivery

Injectors needs more that nozzles to became like AMG.
And no need to change rail-sensor.
Otherwise correct. :thumb:

With AMG injectors and a little higher rail pressure it is quite easy to get +60hp/cyl.
2359 with AMG turbine and billett compressor wheel supports ~400hp power.
Made soft in many kind of line-ups.

Quoted remap figures put to the test, I've had a feeling that this would be the outcome most of the time...

I assume proper live mapping for stage 2 modifications would get you a better result - hybrid turbo conversions seem to be very popular amongst the VAG group of cars, with excellent results. Don't see why this cant be done to your 270?

delete the EGR aswell, did that on mine and did wonders for responsiveness etc

Hi tuikku,

I've read a lot of your threads regarding tuning, just wish I understood as much about diesels as you!

Whats it better to do, go with AMG injectors or have a normal set calibrated and nozzles?

.
Depends, what do you want to.
Mods between 300-350hp, (C270):
Cr pump from 400cdi
AMG or similar injectors
Vacuum controlled gt2359 hybrid turbo, billet comp. + AMG turbine.
Big cooler
3" downpipe
4bar map
Softw.
Piece of cake ...

Got talking to a chap at North weald his BMW derv was runing 13's he said these peeps are very good with tuning BMW's and Mb's

That's exactly what I'm after!

300bhp is probably enough, but 350bhp is better. Is there any way of having switchable maps? Just my normal commute to work is quite sedate so it'd be nice to be able to turn it down when it's not essential.

Looks like I best work harder and sell some more cars!!

Now that's a nice spec to tune :)
