I thought they were orange caps which you stuck over normal screws...

I have some tidy licence plate holders on mine, so they're screwed to the car and the licence plate is just held on with sticky pads.  I recently had new plates made up for my trip to NL and DE, with GB section to avoid this unsightly body mod:

Here are the plates on my car:

The sticky tape is the most useful thing ever!

You can stick the plate straight toi the boot, or tailgate, and it wont rattle or anything, and looks decent.

The only grumble is getting it straight <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'> &nbsp;LOL

and it cleans off easy, wehn you change plates etc. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

I followed the link in Flip's post and discovered that I missed C32 AMG in one of the auctions.
Now that would have looked <span style='color:red'>cool</span> on my car -
but not £3,400 worth of cool! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':0'>

I have P6VL W (PAUL W) the V was very slightly rounded at the bottom.

Unfortunately after having it on the car for a year
I was pulled over whilst dropping my boy off at school, by a newly passed out policeman. I had 2 choices, either get it changed back to P6 VLW or face the local magistrate. Guess which road I took!

At the police station when I presented my &quot;vehicle defect slip&quot; the desk serg' took one look at the reason for the defect and said &quot; Blimey you must of been caught by a new boy, the older more mature ones would not of bothered, they already have enough work to do&quot;.

 My sentiments entirely.

Ive used yellow bolts, caps, italics, spacings and all sorts.

My dad has a 2 inch x 6 inch plate on his motorbike.

The most we have ever recieved is a £20 fine and told to get it changed, thats all...

What happened to you seems very over the top! especially as it is ONLY spacing, which is NOTHING, very weird.

ive known peeps to get 3 points on license due to iilegal spacing.

Coppers round your way must be right muppets, whats the point? &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

using different text, is real bad, but with different spacing, you can still read it perfectly!! &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Got registration S600 JMD (My initials) on my, yes you guessed it, S600!

When I was a Rozzer, I saw an index plate that read HORSE, I had to stop that one. On closer inspection the O in HORSE was in fact a 6 doctored beyond belief, and a verbal warning issued.

I would not have stopped - for example: PEN1S (apparently used to stop wife using husbands Merc) &amp; BEG 4 1T (I saw on a Ferrari) etc no problem.

I agree; vanity plates are easier to remember, but some people go to far.
