It seems like deja vu to me, but yet again there is another person in a position of responsibility that has been found guilty of perverting the course of justice. This lady has effectively ended her career as no one could henceforth describe her as a trustworthy honest individual fit to hold office. Unfortunately she’s not alone in her behaviour.

It appears utterly incomprehensible to me that one would risk ones future career lying about doing 41mph in a 30. After mulling it over, I have come to the conclusion that this blatant disrespect for the law boils down to the fact that folk believe that there is zero chance of getting caught.

So my question to this vast knowledgeable forum is, what is the most stupid incident that you know someone has been sacked for / ended their career over ?

I worked with a fellow engineer on a 50k salary who got dismissed for robbing a chocolate bar out of the canteen vending machine.

She's not the first...:

Neil Hamilton in 1994
Jonathan Aitken in 1999
Jeffrey Archer in 2001 (although in his case the 4 years prison term did not actually end his career....)
Chris Huhne in 2011

In all cases the actual gain from the deceit was minimal, compared to the coinsurances.

And there are more... the recent MPs expenses scandal etc.

I spent most of my 20s living in Germany. One of my friends over there Klaus, was a Leopard 2 MBT driver in the German army. He was caught driving it pissed as a fart and was imprisoned for a short while in an army prison and lost both his license and was chucked out of the army!

Brian, Deja vu may strike yet again! As with many MP's caught doing whatever, they appear to have the ability to bounce back using some sort of metamorphism into a new and in many cases a better paid job. :wallbash: Whereas the rest of us, if caught in anything untoward are fired and treated as undesirable for ever more!

The MP in question is so famous, that I didn't know she existed as the Labour MP for Peterborough, and I live there!
