Petrol in Diesel Car

It's common sense to always check and double check the dispensing pump to ensure that the mistake is not made and is not fair just to blame it on all the pumps/nozzel! I always double check on every occasion.

Not sure about that !! two strokes burnt the lot , not sure where it went if not burnt , there are also additives that retard burn rate , rather than cause detonation - let us be correct in what we state now boys and girls ...

Not sure what you are saying but need to correct you on one part only.

Some 4 stroke racing motorbikes used castrol R as the lubricating oil. That is a vegetable oil chosen because of the low friction properties.
The engines do tend to burn some off and you can really smell it.

As Parrot and one or two others have already said, veggy oil will not harm a diesel engine, it'll probably help to save the o rings in the injector pump after petrol addition. ;)
I am not going to debate what might or might not be good for plonking into the tank of a modern cdi powered vehicle. dealerships generally put an additive into the fuel tank whenever they service a vehicle, but the warranty is quite clear and it goes along with Iain's recommendation. Our warranty clearly states no additives and only fuel that complies with certain stipulations.

Like a few others here I have a Service Plus contract so have no opinion about good or bad, but I will not risk invalidating a warranty.

You are probably putting 5% veg oil/biodiesel in everytime you fill up.

I don't doubt it for one minute :)

Just commenting that it wasn't some of the oil burnt off ...

All engines burnt all of it off ! There was only one place for it to go - in the induction port , and get burnt in the cylinder , of slop up the exhaust until it was given a good caning .

My Mini Cooper was run on Castrol R , and it did smell nice ...

There were a coule of older 4 strokes that ran positive loss lube , and dropped it on the road - BSA's being amongst them , if not intentionally .
