Right, got another issue now with the old battle ship ...
The petrol needle and the speedo needle are moving up and down when the engine runs ... First it was the speedo especially at speeds around 20-30 mph but now the petrol needle is also moving up and down irrationally 0-:
Where should I start investigating first ? Could it be a fuse ?
Any info is very welcome !

Presumably the 200E mentioned in your poster is a W124

Fuel gauge jitters are common for cars of that age, fuel sender unit is the culprit. I replaced mine a few months ago.

Symptoms were random jumping around, got worse as the fuel level reduced. Replacement was IIRC £105 from an eBay supplier, installation is extremely easy - 10 minute job.

Maybe you can fix it (if you want one to play with I still have the defective unit - yours for £5 + postage if you're interested)

Hope this helps

Thanx for that CC !
Yes, it's a 124 , 1989 , and I had it now for 13 years so I suppose the part did a a fairly good job and is excused for acting up now ...
I'll have a look around to see where I can source one from.
Now it just leaves me with the dodgy speedo ...

Will check that when I'm back home
