I recall the shouts of "if petrol ever gets to a pound a gallon the car goes!"

Well, £6.50 a gallon and there's more cars than ever on the road.

£10 a gallon? not too far off - and we'll still keep driving.....
 
Traffic volumes and miles have fallen in recent years.

TfL say traffic volume in London is up year on year (however they claim that without CC it would have gone up much more).

But perhaps we Londoners live in the land of plenty compared to the rest of the UK.
