Phantom turbo!?!

Hi folks,
this is my first post as a troubled 1992 230te owner.
Searched the past posts but cannot find anything relevant, please help!

After pulling away, my car decides to accelerate with a mind of it's own.
The throttle pedal is not sticking and the car always returns to steady idle.

It will not do this unless under load and is making driving around town a bit hairy to say the least!

I change to second and the same thing happens again but eventually it returns to normality with a little bit of a jolt. It does this all the time, hot, cold, after a long journey etc.

Any suggestions??

Car is 230 te estate 124 series manual.....

MAS gone by the sound of it. Certainly worth checking it first. If there is another car near you, maybe you could swap the MAS and see if it fixes the problem.
