Is there a way of easily storing the telephone directory from my phone to the COMAND so that its there all the time (I don't just mean when I put the phone in the cradle).

It can probably be done by adding new and typing each one into the COMAND directory individually, but thats a mammaoth task, and I was hoping to just copy them over permanently but easily?
You can guess I'm not a workaholic! :D

No.

It just sits in the phone's SIM there is nowhere to store it in COMAND

When I did mine - and it was a b***s aching task - I'm sure I was able to 'import' from the phone SIM into COMAND. Unfortunatley you can only import one number per contact so any extras have to be put in manually

I have never tried it so the following may be complete rubbish:

The one Bluetooth connection profile that Comand does support is (I understood) address book transfer with a PDA. As I don't own a PDA I have not tried this.

If this worked, you would need to transfer your phone's address book to a PDA and then from there over to Comand.

As it doesn't take long for Comand to upload the address book from the phone, I haven't bothered. However, I agree it would be good - I would like to attach locations (for the purpose of navigation) to various people who appear in my phone address book.

Ho Hum thanks anyway...... Down to the typing in then I suppose!

As pilotc182 said, you should be able to import each contact one at a time. When you have the phone connected, view the contact and then press the import button. I did 30 contacts names and numbers in a couple minutes this way and then added address, etc as I needed them.
