Anyone know if an xda orbit has SAP-sim access protocol-and if it's compatable with phone prep?Dealer only recommends a short list of crummy phones. Thanks for any thoughts

Not aware of this xda orbit but the current official MB list of supported SAP phones is:
Nokia 6230, 6230i, 8800, 6280, E60, E70, E61, N80, E65, E50, N95, 6300
Siemens S65, SK65, S75, SL75, S68,
Vertu Constellation, Ascent

I have used other phones successfully, better try first, if possible before buying the BT device.

Hi

Just bought an R Class with Bluetooth. The MB bumph says Nokia E65 is compatible: it is, but that's only for making and receiving calls. There is no integration with the address book and that for me, makes it worthless. So, having only owned the E65 for a few weeks I had to buy a Nokia 6300. I also tried a Nokia N95, which also didn't integrate the address book. 6300 works perfectly

There is a previous thread on the N95 and SAP v2. In a nutshell, it is fully compatible, including P/B download from the phone memory.

Which BT device and which version do you have (or give us the part number)?

Also have you tried updating the phone SW, not sure if it could make a difference, MB does not state any SW revision levels.

Slight Progress but help still needed!
The Comand recognises the PDA phone via bluetooth connection and says connected but it won't work as message says phone ot available.Does anyone know if I've reached a dead end or do you think if the phone is recognised that the system can be made to work?

I assume you have successfully paired the phone with COMAND, but not for telephony but instead for visitor card exchange (the other use would be BT HF but your phone would unlikely support the BT headset functionality, would be useless anyway).

You should be able to pair the phone with the BT puck. If it is a SAP puck, it is very unlikely that your phone supports the necessary profile.

I guess it isn't a complete dead end, perhaps with your current phone it is.

Just to be sure, did you dial 0000 <send> to upload the address book. You need to do this on the SAP cradle with N73 (althogh on the 6300 it downloads stuff from the SIM withough needing the 0000 I think)

I like the 6300 better than the N series as they turn on quickly.

Thanks very much guys for your comments. Can you tell me what is a BT Puck and a SAP puck and how to find out if I've got either-and what I can do if I have. The help is greatly appreciated.

Oh, I thought you were familiar with BT SAP. You don't mention the car you have (not at this thread), must be quite a new one if it has BT HF from the head unit.

Didn't find quickly a good reference for the BT devices but you would have, I believe three options. A device that connects to the UHI connector instead of the phone cradle. You do have UHI (option code 386)?

One of the BT devices supports BT HF profile, more common support on phones. The two on the figures are BT SAP devices. Can find more info e.g. here:

The car is a oct 05 CL500.I don't have either of those things! This is probably the problem.I've only got the factory installed phone prep.I suppose it's surprising it recognises the bluetooth phone at all.Am I right?
