Phone Prep question

Been having a look around and now I'm REALLY confused, because it seems other are saying that the phones ARE charing i their MERC UHI kits!!!!

From another MB Forum :

"If you are happy with your 6230 and cradle solution, why change to Bluetooth interface? You'll give up battery charging, use of external antenna with signal booster, and limit the feature set that is available with your car's hands-free system. Your only gain would be the convenience of not having to dock your phone."

That quote simply isnt true. If its from the forum I think it is, then that doesnt surprise me as there are quite a lot of inaccuracies there.

Anyway, if you have a SAP cradle with your UHI, it uses the cars antenna not the phones one. So you only really lose the charging facility. With both of the Mercedes cradles and the viseeo cradle, you retain full use of the cars steering wheel controls and address book download etc (provided your phone is a supported one). So as for limiting the feature set, thats simply not true.

I personally use an HFP and given the now massive mobile phone coverage we have in the country it really doesnt bother me about using my cars aerial.

Plus if you have a supported phone and use the SAP cradle your phone, once connected, will go to sleep, massively reducing the drain on the battery.
