Phone Question

I have a 2000 S class with COMAND. It has the 6150 Nokia phone installed and I was wondering:

1. Does anyone have a bluetooth adaptor for COMAND? I would guess that something that fitted to the existing cradle and had a bluetooth interface would be great!

2. Does anyone know how to change the phone adaptor to a Nokie 6310i which is the phone i use everyday. Is this simple?

thanks

don't know about the bluetooth adapter . . . not sure if this is possible - you could probably use a bluetooth headset with your phone in the cradle though.

I have the 6310i comand module - should be just a case of changing the module (and the cradle plus wiring to the module, obviously !) all your other hardware should work fine.

I have the part number for the 6310i module - can let you have it if you like.

thanks - any idea who could fit this..i currently have the 6150 cradle and plug...also, how much do you think this will cost?

thanks

Will post part numbers and prices this evening for you when I get home. Also depends on where you want to mount the cradle - there are a few different ones I think . . mine is to go inside the armrest. Let me know, and I'll let you have what I've got.

shouldn't be too difficult to fit yourself, depending on where the control box is currently located and where the wiring runs.

i was quoted £290 by Braybrooks to make this change...sounds a lot to me and specifically a lot more than another sim card...

is this really someone with limited "handy" skills could attempt or does it actually require some experience of doing this sort of this before....i do have a soldering iron if that helps :-)

If the £290 includes the new hardware, then that sounds cheap to me . . . . the cradles and controller modules are not cheap !

and yes, you could do it yourself if you know where the bits are located - although if you are not confident about taking apart your newish SL then best to let somebody who has done it before have a go !

Braybrooks provide a good service from what I have heard.

Dave,

I changed the control modle and cradle in my CL from the 6150 to the 6310i.

It's easy to do and cost me about £100 all in. The cradle is easy, just clip the new part onto the existing cradle (which covers the part where the antenna goes for the 6150 phone, as the 6210/6310i does not have a stubby antenna to hold it in the cradle)

Then under the drivers rear seat, simply push the button under the cushion and left the rear seat out (on my CL anyway). The unscrew the cardboad cover and your see about 5 control modules.

Simply unplug the cable and fibre from the phone adaptor and plug the new one in. Thats it.

Of course you need the new controler first, I got mine from ebay germany.

Let me know if you need a hand once you have the controler.

Matt,

Great - so what exactly am I looking for in terms of a controller?

Is there a part number or some other way of identifying it?

Also,do you need to upgrade COMAND - mine is still on the Year 2000 s/w release.

thanks

Dave
