Picanto Hand Brake stuck on!

My wife's Picanto handbrake won't release when you press the button. I eventually hit the button in annoyance and it did release but locks on again when you pull the hand brake up again. Any clues please? Cheers

I don't think so-I'm thinking it needs adjusting.

Don't adjust it, it's the only thing keeping the wretched little car off the road!!

There's 2 little dimples like punch marks on the lever these stop the button going too far in and the handbrake sticking on, you need to remove the handbrake from the car re punch the 2 dimples and refit this will cure the problem, common problem on the Kia, you would not believe how many times this happens when a Kia is on the MOT test

Many thanks. i reserved it with the hand brake on and then drove forward with it on, the adjusted the cable behind the handbrake and all seems well at the moment! We'll see how it goes
