Picked up a c63 from mercades dealer CLOCKED milage

Hi Guys , just picked up my c63 from a Mercedes main dealer , after paying a deposit on the car they made me wait for 4 weeks in-order to do some minor repairs apparently to the front and rear bumper which was strange as they told me to pay a deposit as someone was viewing the car the same evening , they kept messing me around changing collection dates ect saying the person dealing with it is not in and has had a death in the family but oh wait hes behind his desk but cannot answer your call 2 hours later ect ... , i was sort of thinking they may have crashed it or something fishy was going on ,

after receiving the car 4 weeks later they failed to give me service papers ...

the car has many faults , tyre pressure warnings keep coming on , sunroof making a weird grinding noise , not demisting from half of the bottom left windowscreen , also there is a moth stuck in my rear led headlights so this has obvs been opened ...

having visted my local mb branch today they made an massive error and gave me a stamped print out , the milage on the paper work showed 81000 miles at one service and 83042 at the other , the car currently has 62000 miles and was sold at 62000 miles to me from a main Mercedes dealer ,

what do you think the outcome would be i am seeking legal advice ...

May i also add after me pointing out the milage issue to my local branch after they handed over the paperwork they tried to get this back of me which i refused and walked out ...

You paid a deposit on a used car from a dealer that you neither inspected or requested the service history printouts ?

Wow.

If you have the documentation you say you have then you have two options IMO.

1. Request the transaction is voided and monies paid to be refunded

or

2. Involve plod.

Full refund plus compensation for your time and lost interest on your money. I would then report them to mercedes head office and trading standards.

it was from the main Mercedes garage so assumed nothing was wrong with it , paid £31,500 , my local branch are currently investigating and will call me tomorrow lets see what they say , thanks for your help.

Not that I'm doubting your interpretation, but a main dealer would have to be plain stupid to clock a car with an auditable service history.

Could there be another explanation, as the mileage info you've got isn't from the supplying dealer, if I understand you correctly?

Not surprised it was clocked, coming from a Mercades dealer. I would go to Mercedes next time.

it was from the main Mercedes garage not a dealer sorry my mistake , thanks trapperjohn il keep everyone updated ,

it was Mercedes in gatwick , and got the service documents printed out from Mercedes in bristol

The common sense post in this thread.

Best to get the full facts before you start talking about plod etc.

I would also urge caution until all other possibilities have been ruled out.

Aside from the mileage discrepancy, is the car as expected?

Hi SPike , the car has many faults , tyre pressure warnings keep coming on , sunroof making a weird grinding noise , not demisting from half of the bottom left windowscreen , also there is a moth stuck in my rear led headlights so this has obvs been opened ...

So the faults you have discovered all sound pretty minor.

If the mileage discrepancy proves to be a clerical error and the listed faults rectified, would you be happy to keep the car or have you lost faith in it entirely?

It does sound like you bought the car blind and put your faith into the supplying dealer... Not good on a car worth so much money. Once they stated it needed repairs I would have made the effort to see exactly what was required, it could have been badly damaged for all you know. Their excuses (or what seem to be excuses) would have personally put me off as it does seem they had something to hide.

My advice would be get their explanation in writing, you may need the proof. As said by Sp!ke, are you happy if they resolve these or have you lost faith? I cannot see them clocking the car but if they can't offer a decent explanation I would reject the vehicle

I would suggest to get your money back and call it a day. Trying to fight for compensation or any other options will complicate things.

That car might was a pcp car before and the person who leased it might have clocked it to not pay the excess ,I have seen the same problem in a w212 220cdi it showed 41k in the clock but when mike at mb of medway put the star in it it showed 96k !

Fair point, but if this is the case it should have been picked up by the dealer sooner and certainly before the car was sold on.

What concerns me more than any of that is the pure daylight robbery that you paid 31k for a car with 65k or 81k miles on it regardless of what MB offer with there approved that seems excessive to me

So you bought the car from Bristol or Gatwick? Gatwick is my local Mercedes Dealer franchise, Lookers of Gatwick, and is where my car came from. I can't say they've treated me wrongly so far, or at least have rectified any niggles that I've had without question. So far so good...
