Picked up new Coupe (pic heavy)

Just checked - it definitely wasn't mine :)

Got a nice email from my car today :) - well command-online@daimler, telling me that my battery charge status is critical and I should connect a battery charger or drive the car for 30 ro 60 minutes...so spoke to dealer today, car might be ready tomorrow, they may have to remove the front bumper to get at the pipework/clips under the coolant reservoir.

Just checked the MercedesMe app (very cool) and now my car shows as locked and coolant level normal....

Beautiful.....
The seats, the body, the curves

Bet it sounds as good as it looks

Thanks - picked it back up this morning - they had cleaned it but took it home and cleaned it myself, cleaned up the new coolant spillage around the coolant reservoir and so far all seems good although not really done any miles today - lets see!

Managed to force myself to get to the 1000 miles mark by aimlessly driving around each evening but got there on Friday - until then I hadn't taken the car out of comfort mode but as expected it comes alive in sports+ and race mode. What is interesting is the difference between my saloon as they have definitely put a different map on the coupe as the coupe has much more overrun pops and burbles than my saloon did. The saloon used to pop but not like this does, I guess all through the software mapping.

I'll get a video up of revving stationary to demonstrate.

No rattles so far.

Interesting you say about the overrun cos my estate hardly does any pops on the overrun at all. Just a bit one when you change down and sometimes when shifting up on full throttle. I hoped it might start making more as I put the miles on but done 2500 now and not really changing much.

Hi Dunc, I collect my new 63s coupe in the next couple of weeks, tell me, once the 1000 miles are up do you have to take the car for a RIS or diff oil change? Also is the running in period 'a must'?

Hi - you will have stickers on the inside of your windscreen, one says dont go above 4500 and 85mph for 1000 miles - no running in service needed but the other sticker tells you to get your diff oil changed at 2000 miles. That is FOC and you should get a letter from MB UK saying so.

Is it mandatory to run it in - probably not but I did it on this one, although it had 25 miles on the clock when I got it so who knows how it was treated then? For my C63S saloon I got to 650 miles and couldn't handle running it in any more so stopped there...

Quick example that shows the overrun/pops when stationary - my 2015 saloon did not do this

Ah, ok, mine does that when stationary, but just don't get any pops on overrun when moving. I was hoping for more. My old cerbera used to pop away quite merrily for ages and I was wishfully hoping for something similar! Not that I'm disappointed with the noise in the slightest!!!

Ok I can't embed the video. Argh!

Yes sounds the same - mine does that when moving when lifting off, sweet spot seems to be about 5k

Maybe I just drive too much like a wuss! I don't think I hit 5000rpm very often. Hah!

It seems that the Edition 1 is now no longer offered for new Coupes - I have the MB UK product management PDF that I got hold off a while back and it said Edition 1 only available for 1st year of production - and now its gone from the configurator and carwow.

Mildly interesting fact :)

Just turned 1800 miles and had the rear diff oil change done. Had a few things for the dealer to look at but so far, very happy with the car - no squeaks/rattles.

Fitted the black MB bonnet badge, first mod :)

Looks lovely! Think in that colour and those options it'd be the only thing to get me out of my 507, still think I'd miss the hood vents though haha.

I am so happy with the car, continues to sound epic and is a real head turner but I do agree if it had the 507 bonnet vents it would be complete :)

Well I sold the car this week.

I had only done around 3000 miles since January as I hadn't been using it in the rain and with winter coming that was only going to mean I use it less and less, so I had started to question why I had it just sitting in the garage. As it happens, I have a mate who is a broker for high end cars and having a chat at a party last weekend I asked him to find out how much it was worth.

Pleasantly surprising I got back what I paid originally plus some - so with that in mind it went Thursday evening. Currently used Edition 1 coupes are advertised above list, not sure what they are transacting at though, which I think is a combination of people chancing it because Merc only made the Edition 1 for the first 12 months of coupe production plus being more desirable than a standard coupe because of the different body kit (bigger spoilers, sills, splitters and different interior).

Some farewell shots:

Dunc
