Just wanted to start a thread and see if anyone had any ideas/comments on the gallery thread, as i realised you cant post replies there. Ideas of what to do next would be good :)

Also, i used Auto Glym deep shine and it was rubbish! Left deep smudges, am i not using it right? Anyone had the same thing?

Concerning your bodykit dilemna/thoughts -

If you were to get a genuine AMG bodykit from the stealer it would cost close to 2 grand.
WALD bodykits are available but you'd have to send your facelift bumpers in exchange which is a load of hassle, plus it works out to be more expensive than the AMG kits. The kit will come from Japan.

I don't know whether genuine Lorinser kits are still available for this car....

AMG bodykits or bits of them come up on fleabay occasionally but are snapped up quite quickly.

Yeah, pretty pricey :( may have to keep an eye out on ebay/breakers and collect the bits slowly.

Wasnt there a fibre glass kit that was a bit cheaper? Think it was a 43 replica? Dont know what quality would be like tho...

The trouble with the fibreglass kits, if they're fitted correctly it will make the car look unique. If fitted badly it will make your car look really bad.

Have you thought about fitting auto-dimming Rear view Mirror and door glass?
While you are at it you could fit 210 blinking folding mirrors.
I see from the pics, you were outside Merc-man, do you use them a lot?

Did you remove the callipers completely and sand/clean them up before painting or did u do them while they were sitting on the car?

Also you could get the grooved&vented disc brakes from a specialist on ebay that manufactures them for almost any car for about £130 for all 4 discs. Think his name was Mtec100 or something. I fitted them on yesterday and they look the pants, and have made a massive difference because my old discs/pads were gone! :)

Was wondering if anyone would recognise the place! I've never actually been to Mercman, but drop a friend off who works close by so took some pics in the open space outside it.

Have looked at a few auto dim mirrors on ebay, what's a reasonable price for one? have seen them go for £20ish?? Im thinking about a light tint all round too soon, so wont need the glass.

IMO the different mirrors dont look very good (even worse folded in!) and it's quite a technical mod so wil be leaving them alone. The M3 mirrors on a car up the road fold upwards, looks really odd

I need a set of rear discs, so will email the ebay guy and see what he can do. As for the calipers, i stripped them down and painted them (on the car), but they'll be cloaked by monoblocks soon so probably not worth doing much more to them! if you fully remove them you can get them powdercoated, which would last a lot better.

Which pads did you put on Rage?

Ive been thinking about painting my callipers sliver, do they need to be removed 1st?

Depends how much of a perfectionist you are! I didnt remove mine, just took the wheel off, pads out and then wire brushed the calipers clean. Then i painted on some heatproof paint in a few layers.

If i take off the wheels and give them a good clean they still come up nicely after over a year, although they clash a bit with the greenstuff pads now!

Auto-dimming rear view mirror, i paid £60 for a face-lift 202 (AMG) brand new in the box even had the MB work instruction sheet on how to instal it. £40 for the pre-facelift (C230K) with the red & green lights, considering they retail in the region of £250, i did,nt think this was bad. But it seems ever since i bought mine there has been loads on e-bay and cheaper. :(
I,m gonna be overhauling the front brakes new discs/pads etc. at the same time i was going to overhaul the calipers thinking of getting my calipers powder coated at the same time, blue or black undecided atm.

I bought the pads from MB, got it off Gareth in manchester, he did a really good deal!

So the post facelift AMG dimming mirror is the best to go for, not the pre-facelift? Is that right?

I'll pick one of these up soon :)
