A few months ago I had to replace the tyres for the first time,(E240 '99 31k) and although I originally requested Pirelli, the tyre dealer was let down by his supplier.
I was offered more expensive Goodyear Hydragrip for the same price, which after some quick internet research, I accepted.
The report on the Goodyear was generally good but with slightly more road noise.
I am experiencing more than 'slightly more' road noise.
Has anybody else had similar experience, should I have waited for Pirelli's ?

Thanks Colin

To be honest, with a name like Hydragrip I'd expect them to be noisy - presumeably they've got a fairly open tread pattern to disperse water?

They are quite highly rated tyres though - they came top in one of AutpExpress's tyre tests.

The Goodyear Hydragrips have quite a big block tread pattern and are fairly noisy, the Goodyear Excellence are a better and quieter tyre

From what I have read Pirellis are way behind other makes nowadays....

Funny you should say that-I have always had Uniroyal 540's (the rain tyre, or so it says on the tyre wall) on my C Class, and recently replaced the two fronts with Pirelli P6000......Boy the Pirellis are noisy!!
