Pitted metal, paint?

There are a few patches of pitted metal on the rear window surround which I need to paint before having the rear window refitted. They have been ground back with an angle grinder as much as possible. Any thoughts on what to paint them with?

I have a tin of POR 15 but would a few coats of epoxy primer followed by a top coat (already have a can) be a better option? Or something else?

Cheers for any thoughts

Use a rust killer first, to get rid of as much as you can, before applying any other coating.

Done! Thoughts on paint?

I have used POR15 with excellent results before but a window surround is another ballgame. The rot festers away unnoticed and it’s such a faff to remove/refit.

Well, ground it using a dremil w/ wire brush attachment to the point there were only pin head sized pits. Then jenolite converter, 2 coats zinc182 primer, 2 base coat. POR15 inner side of lip. The unpictured side had to have a section cut out & replaced at bodyshop. What a faff!
