Hi today my clk 240 had a little whining noise sounds like it's a supercharger now this has develop into the car slipping in gears no power when foots down and sometime not going into gear at all. I tried the triptronic and it's not selecting any gears..

What could be the cause of this?

Thank you

First thing is to check the fluid level.

You'll need a dipstick (ebay) and it's important to follow the correct procedure.

Get the transmission/car up to normal running temperature. A five to ten mile drive should do it.

Park it on level ground, put it in P and leave the engine running. Dip the level which should be between the marks on the 80 degrees part of the stick.

If it's low, add the correct MB specification fluid (important) to bring it up to the full mark. Don't overfill it, it can cause the fluid to froth and damage things.

It's going to the garage tomorrow. As it mostly staying in first gear, the whining there straight away
