Bearings tend to grind n grate .

In most common cases yes, I wonder if they could also squeal.

Hi this is an old post but I have a mercedes 220d and getting exactly the same sound took to a mechanic and could not find anything. It only seems to happen after driving a while and when press brake even lightly it stops but then returns. It’s an irritant!

Check the pad retainers and springs etc.

Thought, this could be interesting, then realised I had read it wrongly, thought it said "squealing noise from front passenger seat" Dammit
