First trip of any length just completed from Birmingham to Northumberland and impressed with frugal fuel consumption of my beautiful Merc. Achieved 68.9 mpg getting there (I was so hoping to hit my Holy Grail of 70 mpg) and after driving around to lots of places over 4 days, the overall figure on return was 60 mpg.
This is my first diesel car and I was hoping for something impressive and wasn't disappointed. I wonder if this could be improved if I left the missus and 2 X 20K cases at home?
On a 'road trip' note I have to say that the coast from Lindisfarne to Tynemouth is just amazing.

Great figures... not got close to that from the Hybrid yet, but then not made any long trips in it yet!

Best I ever got from my e320 cdi was 62.3 mpg , a remap would help ;)

I've noticed that with diesel Mercs, you can get close to what they advertise.

BMWs and Land Rovers however... Hahah no chance!

I get sixties mpg's only on the downhills and with lifted foot from throttle :)
The best ever achieved on long motorway runs:
E200 Kompressor - 42mpg
A6 2.4 - 41mog
CL500 - 24mpg
E240 - 36mpg
V70 - 26.3mpg
