hi

My dad has an E220 1995 and the Poly V belt has become noisy. Wondered if this was something that could be replaced easily without taking to the dealers?Guess it's just a belt which has a tensioner on it.

Also where would be the cheapest place to get a center section exhaust, brakes pads and disc from etc? I was having a look and Euro parts seem to be quiet responable.

thanks

Hi Jack.
Where are you from? If you are near me, I could do all the necessary repairs for you at a very reasonable cost.
Graeme.

Hi Jack and welcome to MBClub UK.

I had a similiar noise on my car. The belts can become noisy because they get dirty and 'sticky', you could remove it and clean it with detergent and degreaser on the actual pulleys. The belts are easy enough to change and can be cheap enough if bought from the right place.

In my case it was the water pump that was causing the noise so I replaced that, my car is now very stealth like and much quieter. The bearings in the tensioner are prone to early failure and they are a dealer only part.

If you want a good deal on brake parts just PM or e-mail me.

Jimmy,
