Saw this during the week in Bangkok. Not a great picture as we shot past in a taxi whilst trying to avoid all the big political demonstrations:

Forgive me if it's not a Ponton, I have to admit to knowing very little about them.

Great holiday in Thailand BTW. Despite the worrying threats of all the anti-government demonstrations we managed to keep well clear of any problems. The only issue was that a couple of places wouldn't sell my favourite Singha beer because the company's owner is a big supporter of one of the parties in the crazy arguments!

Thats a W186 300S Limousine I think... probably a state official or someone high up... not a Ponton...

It's not a Ponton, but it's bigger brother the Adenauer. The S class of its day, very nice too..

Cheers,

Gaz

Thanks guys. I knew someone would put me right.

Adenauer as has been said. Notable for its separate body chassis construction similar to the Bentley/ Rolls Royce coachbuilt models of the time. Mercedes-Benz Type 300 "Adenauer" limousine © www.mbzponton.org

lots of piccies on Google e.g.

I think Jay is on the money. The colour is the ivory that seems to adorn the majority of the Royal Families Mercedes vehicles and it has a nice flag pole for official occasions. The single numeral number plate alone could sell for £100,000's given what my Thai mate paid for his 007 number plate.

That was a nice spot given Bangkok traffic.
