This old E200 has been abandoned in a pub car park for over 6 months near me, kids are destroying it as you can see, spoke to pub landlord and she said Police have been informed but as its unregistered and on private land they can't touch it.

Untaxed and uninsured, seems to have been sold on Gumtree in Bodmin, Cornwall in February for £400 and now ended up unregistered in Liverpool.

Shame as previous to the damage it looked like a well looked after car

I wonder if the owners of that house in the background got their Solar Panels registered in time before the big tariff drop

Anyway back to the topic, surely the police could find out who the owner is and inform them that their car is currently being taken apart by the local young team ?

It is indeed, its the car park of the Oak Tree pub.

Here's what I don't understand, the car was sold in February so any half decent seller would make sure the buyer signs the V5 so they can change ownership, however the Police say it is unregistered, but if for example the seller didn't bother to have the buyer sign the V5 and send it off then the buyer would still be the registered keeper.

I didn't think a car could be in between registered keepers?

I know this area, maybe someone bought it then passed away...he may have took the V5 with him, and not the new keeper strip...i do agree if the car is still in previous owner name however he may have proof of sale, receipt copy etc.

Its on private land so police will not be interested unless someone sets it on fire and it becomes a safety issue...i would say it looks ready for Dronsfields:(

As this vandalised car is on private land wouldn't the pub work to get it removed? It is surely not good for business. With that kind of advertising, who would want to park their car there and walk in for a drink and/or meal?

Or Charles Ironsides!

That is very sad .

There used to be a process for 'laying claim' to such vehicles , which involved posting a notice on the windscreen for 30 days , then applying to DVLA for the documents - a pal did it years ago with a Triumph Vitesse abandoned at the roadside , minus its wheels , just outside Edinburgh - he ended up with a nice car .

I did the same with a Metro some 14 years ago and had fun fettling it for a few months.

To be honest I had a look round the car a few days ago, there was literally stacks of service history in the passenger footwell amongst the empty cans, rubbish and strong smell of piss.

I took the paperwork to see if I could get hold of any names and addresses and I did manage to find the name and address of a previous keeper but it seemed to be the old girl who gave it to the guy selling it on Gumtree, described as being too old to drive anymore, she had owned the car for years as well but I don't think it would be right to cause her any distress over the phone, plus she has no responsibility towards the car anyway now.

Interestingly I found someones 2015 accounts in the boot, they belong to the person who sold it Gumtree but it contains no contact details and due to the fact the Gumtree advert has expired long ago they remove any ability to contact the seller, the only information I have is the name "A P Bone" and he/she is from Bodmin, Cornwall. Even stranger, inside the accounts folder was a photograph of a baby :/

All seems a bit weird but I wouldn't mind getting hold of those headlamp wiper motors!
