Hi all, had my Cls350cdi grand edition a few months now and after doing a brim to brim on the last tank car is only averaging 30mpg(mainly short 5 mile each way daily commute in light traffic/50 mph most of way),tyres are checked/adjusted regularly, glow plugs were changed at service upon sale,I don’t drive the car like I stole it-does it sound a bit low/something a miss?

Not if your average journey is only 5 miles...

Petrol would be better

Hi,thanks for your thoughts,I do at least one 50 mile round trip a week and one 80 mile round trip a month(mpg is around 36 then),prefer a v6 diesel over a petrol and have had them before and got better mpg so just making sure there’s no underlying problem,Steve.

The mpg will always be lower in the colder months and at just a 5 mile trip I doubt the engine is getting fully warm.

Hi,thanks for your thoughts-drove the car 18 miles earlier today,10 degrees outside temperature, car up to running temperature within 10 -15 minutes, mainly 30/40 mph roads, some traffic in final mile trip computer showed average 28.9mpg for journey.

Sounds about right to me for the V6 diesels.
