Poor Starting when cold

On to my next problem. I probably should go back to the trader but after the gearbox debacle I'd prefer not to, even at my cost.

Cold Starting - When the car is cold it cranks longer than normal and reluctantly fires. Starts absolutely fin at all other times.

May or may not be related but the car is also quite smokey.

Any ideas gratefully received..

PS the codes have been read to umpteenth degree's. Nothing related to this.

W203 C320 cdi.

EGR fault ?

Dodgy injectors, leaking o-ring usually. EGR fault is often smoky bu shouldn't affect to starting much.
