Possible Eis problem ?

Hoping someone can help me out

2010 e350

When key is inserted, it turns fine & no steering lock but car will not turn ignition on or start , it will eventually after maybe 20 tries .
I have 2 keys & both are the same , ive changed battery in 1 .

Car was recently in a garage having some work done , this was happening before going in but nowhere near as bad as it is now.

Does this sound like an EIS problem ?

It does sound like it; best to try and get it sorted before it fails in the locked position and you have a real problem.

If you go to Mercedes, it is replacement. If you go to one of the specialists such as Home Page | Car Keys Solutions or Mercedes key specialists- Need new Mercedes keys? Replacementmercedeskeys.co.uk , it is a repair job. The motor inside has probably burnt out.

It is a common fault on the W204.

Before doing anything check if the battery holder itself isn't cracked. I had similar issues with mine and it was a cracked battery holder so was making a loose connection
