Hello,
I love to be able to drive the car the way it ment to be, and in control, not been cut off all the time with the ASR like at the moment.
I can turn it off, but there is this bright triangle in the middle of the dash... and I like to start the car without it, and put it on when ever I like it, a bit the other way around? As if I turn it off, the next time it'll automaticly turn itself on again
Is there any possible way?
Thank you.
Olivier

as this is an unusual post am trying to understand what you are saying, so bear with me.

Are you saying the asr light is on all the time ?

If so there is a fault surely, as it should only come on when the wheels are slipping.

How can you turn it off ?

Normal ASR brakes the spinning wheel and reduces engine power simultaneaously as the wheel speed sensors start to indicate the wheels spinning, either in a straight line such as starting or on a bend.

It is ASR you have and not ASD which is just a limited slip diff facility for start offs.

Do you have non standard wheels on the car ?

I think Olivier wants to have some fun:D dont forget youtube link when you get some good slides.

Traction on mine gets on my nerves, pull out in traffic power power oh right wet manhole cover please feel free to take all the power away and leave me in a tight spot lovely car:rolleyes:.

I dont reckon you can switch it off full time as even when switched off on dash it still works just not as sensitive.

Hi,
I have no problem with the ASR, its working fine. The light is on as I turn it off, then you get this nasty bright triangle letting me know its off :wallbash:
What I am saying is that I want to turn the ASR off continuesly from when I sit on the car and start the engine, with the possibilty to put it on again if I feel the road is slippery ( inverted).
This gamic of controlling the power is now driving me nuts as this is why when you turn it off the car goes all over the place as no one is use to drive the car responsively the way it should be, like a normal powerfull car without ASR.
Is it a bit more clear?
Thanks.

I don't think you can turn it off completely on a Mercedes, I think the modern systems are still working in the background when you turn them off & will cut in if they think something is not right.

Does it work even if you take it off?
Lynall, this is what I ment, I like to take it off.
The scenario now is:
I sit on the car, start it, turn off the ASR, get the bright light etc...
What I would like is:
Sit in the car, start the engine and don't bother with the ASR as its off already.
Thank you.

Not sure about this as once I got a fright as it was wet, on cobblestones and the car spinned... A wee scary, but again as this is beacause not use to it, always have the electronics taking cae of any spinning... :wallbash:
Not that I want to spin, I just like to drive the car normally, with no shut off like Lynal explained. Oh, and get rid of the light, without taking the light bulb off.
Cheers.

Something about the gear box, I find it more responsive after shutting the ASR and restarting the car, I wonder if by turning the ASR it doesn't do a gerabox reset?

an you pull a fuse or relay? its possible this may cut other things though?

if you dont like the triangle lit up then you can take out the cluster and remove the bulb....

Hi SS,
Look at my post #7, I don't want to take the bulb out.
I just like to reverse the way it start :dk:
Hey, you might try it on tuesday :)
