In connection with the mpg threads here, i would be interested to see what full tank ranges you guys n gals all get!


Mine ranges from 310 miles worst to 380 best on a C240 V6

have had 380miles max on a motorway run. If its purely arounf town, then can drop to less than 250miles.

Can anyone confirm the capacity of the W202 tank? Manual says 62ltrs, 7ltrs in reserve. Is that 62+7 or 62 incl 7? I've manages to put in a pump indicated 62ltrs in one fill before.

My w202 tank holds 62 litres in total. The reserve light comes on at exactly (give or take a gnats chuff) 55 litres.

I generally get between 440 and 510 miles per 55 litres.

Fuel gauge reads zero after 62l
Just cos the pump said 62litres doesn't mean it is 100% accurate

My '94 E300D has

60+12reserve=72
72=tank capacity
Fuel gauge reads zero after 60l presumably because the reserve light is below the zero mark on the dashboard.

Mine does 350 min - 420 max I normaly get 400 per tank mixed driving. I stick to the speed limits most of the time which helps. A friend who has a Passat Diesel TD115 gets 850 per tank on a run!

Every time I fill up the range resets itself to 766 miles. which represents a very optimistic 43.5mpg, but soon returns to real life.

Longest distance I have done without filling up was just under 550 miles. Could have got to 600 I think but thought better of it.

Have you done this yourself Fuzzer or are you just working it out with the manufacturers figures? The reason I ask is my mate has just been reading this and has the 530d saloon and reckons if he gets between 400 - 450 he's done bloody well. He reckons your either 85 or work for BMW.


BTW I manage between 480 and 550 normally although my dad managed 660 in his going to Spain.
