But yes, Netanyahu is on a dangerous path here, it is not wise for Israel to get caught in internal US party-politics, after all the US will have a Democrat president again at some point and the Democrats will remember this incident.

But yes, Netanyahu is on a dangerous path here, it is not wise for Israel to get caught in internal US party-politics, after all the US will have a Democrat president again at some point and the Democrats will remember this incident.

Netanyahu is fighting for his personal survival. Pending election in which he will campaign as an ally of the USA and therefore couldn't refuse Trump's request, and the requirement to win the election in a way that sees his corruption charges dropped mean he's on the back foot. I sincerely hope the electorate reject him for someone who can begin to rehabilitate Israel's international standing. This episode should serve as a reminder as to why they should.

The justice department said the ship and the firm Paradise Global Trading LLC had been involved in violations of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, bank fraud, money laundering and terrorism forfeiture statutes.

The Iranian navy is not regarded as "blue water" and has no capital ships as such. They have frigates corvettes fast attack ships and submarines. Their sphere of influence is mainly in the gulf although they have been known to operate further affield.
