guys ive just ordered the silverline orange polisher as i dont want to spend over £200 on the PC just yet. Anyway, it comes with some pads, red, blue and white... could someone tell me which i should use for general polishing..

do i just apply polish onto the pad and polish away, followed by the buffing bonnet i assume?

this is the kit

Pretty sure you can buy this cheaper from Toolstation who specialise in Silverline tools.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned that I used to sell a few Silverline tools in a previous life, and if there's demand for the Silverline Sander Polisher then I would be very happy to supply them at cost.

It's been a while and so I'll need to check the precise discount I'll be able to get over the list price - but it's fair to say I'll be able to get them cheaper than the price that the ebay seller in the link above is selling them for, and cheaper than Toolstation too (as they sell at list price).

By way of comparison the same kit that's included in the ebay listing comes to £35.09 (including VAT) plus P&P.

If you work on the prices listed below (all inclusive of VAT), then it will give you a good idea of the ball park figure. If anybody wants to take me up on the offer I'll get firm prices, and a price for delivery.

We'll gauge interest for a few weeks to give everyone a chance to get in on the deal, and then I'll order them all together.

In the interests of clarity:
  • I won't make anything on the deal - I'll do it because you're a nice bunch.
  • Prices below will be firmed up if there's interest, but they're about right.
  • P&P will be charged at cost.
  • I'll need you to pay up front so I'm not stuck with a load of Sander Polishers!!

A very nice gesture BD and an excellent opportunity for anyone interested :)

I'm fairly tempted at those prices to replace my older machine - and the foam heads are a great price too

You need to check P&P - not knocking your offer at all but Toolstation deliver free and at this end of the market that can make all the difference.

Looks good to me. How about not having the white pad in there and including some paste ?

Just a though, though I do understand this looks like a good deal alone.

Cheers

Ian

This is a good deal. Mine was about £35 from a local tool supplier, so no p&p, but some suppliers wanted £10 more for the unit.

I agree, but I wanted to check if anybody was interested before I head for the Post Office.

IIRC Toolstation offer free P&P on orders over £40.

Ironically, because the cost of the items are so low when discounted, the cost of the P&P becomes significant as a proportion of the total cost.

I'll see if I can find out how heavy the items are, and report back.

Ian, I listed the price of the white sponge and the polishing 'bonnet' is included in the box with the polisher.

Right then, Silverline say 4.25kg for the polisher, so when bubble wrapped and bundled with the sponges, and posted using the Royal Mail's Standard Parcel service it would cost £9.35 for delivery (up to 6kg). That would include compensation cover of up to £34, and take between 3 and 5 days to deliver.

Me coming out of retirement and using a significant discount: £44.44

You just ordering from www.toolstation.co.uk with no discount: £43.52

The free P&P on orders over £40 neutralises the saving I can get you by the time you pay delivery. Sorry for any unecessary excitement!!

So there you go Bobby Dazzlers top tip for tools is to get
them from www.toolstation.co.uk

Stats was bob on!! ;)

For anyone that can pick-up and therefore avoid any postage costs, I would still be very happy to order you them at the prices above.

You made the effort - that's what counts!

Maybe you can buy a load and distribute them at the next MBWorld GTG ;).
