Power Loss At Speed

Hi All

My 2002 E220 CDI (w210) had been behaving recently. was off the road for a couple of weeks whilst being repaired after some idiot in asda backed into the front wheel. At least I got a new wing out of it and had a new 3.2 CLS from their insurers while it was being repaired.

I took the car to Brighton the other day, and a problem showed itself.

The car usually starts excellently, and around London drives well at city speeds.

Now, when getting the speed up, around 70 or 80 the car loses power for about 20-30 seconds and the warning triangle light starts flashing. It regains power and then cruises at the high speed before repeating itself.

After this happens and you park up at the end of the journey it is a pig to restart when you try to start it again. Once started it will start normally at future attempts, till the high speed problems happen again and then the story starts all over again.

The other thing i noticed was that at all times, after starting the glow plug light stays on for a few minutes after starting, though it starts easily enough.

Any ideas what may be happening, any common faults like this?

Thanks in advance

Chris

BTW- one of my rear wheel bearings is making a bit of noise, are they difficult to change>

Damaged ABS sensor/ring causing ESP to cut in?

Steering wheel off centre by alot?

Could be a dirty fuel filter.
The bump could have dislodged a build of silt in the tank which is causing fuel starvation when you demand!
