Power loss ???

Hi all .... seem to be having power loss problems. Ive read before that this may be caused by the intercooler pump ??.Can anyone tell me where abouts this pump is in the engine bay and where i could get a new one.

I'm guessing that you have a C32 AMG from your username?

If so then the intercooler pump is prone to failure (40,000 miles is about the time they begin to fail). When they go, you literally have no power, not just a reduction. Unmistakable.

Expensive from a UK MB dealer, cheaper in the US.

The same pump is also used on the Ford Lightening but requires the cable connectors to be swapped over from your old unit.

Alternatively an aftermarket uprated Johnson pump is a popular upgrade in the US.

If however you don't have a supercharged C32 (or E55) - I'd be looking at the MAS as a likely suspect.

Hi yes i have a c32you are right it is unmistakeable power loss but it is intermitent at the moment.Do you know where i find this pump to attempt to do it myself ? thanks

It will stay intermitent too - drivers find it undriveable and dangerous - and swap it before it gets permanent!!

I had a diagram of it, but can't find it. It's not complex to swap - or so I'm told. Your best bet is to search a few US forums as it's a common problem - lots more C32s out there than than in the UK!!

if i remember corectly its behind the wheel arch liner on the o/s/f , just below head lamp height
