Hello to all members of the form.My name is Steve a new member of the group and my first post...
I am after information on power steering pumps I need a new pump for the following vehicle

Mercedes c180 w204 estate 1.6 petrol 2009...vin number WDD2042452F389438.... Engine number 271910312644702.
So far my search in the UK to find the correct pump has left me stumped as to why they are not compatible with different models. Mercedes UK want £400 Plus... Has anybody ever used a different models pump on there car in my circumstances a 1.6 engine using a 1.8 engine part. The part number fitted to my car is A005 466 8301.... Sorry for the first long post but at my wits end

Welcome to the forum.

When I searched that part number on line it came back as one suitable for a ML!

The pump fitted to your car would be used on severel Mercedes vehicles. I would suggest contacting Mercedes Newcastle via their eBay shop and asking for a quote and to check compatibility. They are often competitive on pricing.

Is there anyone you can find that could recondition the pump?

It is usually a leaking seal?

WWorth asking around local garages?

Good luck!

Also, can you see a mb part number on the pump to cross reference on the web?

I see AutoDoc listing a number of options as being compatible with a W204. The one I would choose is by Luk at 345€.

But, as MB is only £400 I'd be tempted by that.

Your choice of course but you don't want a cheapo one as you may be replacing that again in short order.

Good hunting.
